Fantastic take on minimal from Germany-based Stathis Kalatzis wjho manages to inject organic progression, unusual ideas and humour intohis floor-grabbing groove constructions. ‘Smoothest Cat On The Block’ uses wheezy jazz shadows with sax and organ plus sinister voices and discordant elements to intoxicating effect, continued on ‘A Cradle Of Smiles’ except spaced and slowed with creaky floorboards, magical dub efx and cheeky acid flatulence in the distance. ‘Dubbinezion’ grabs a minimal electric cable and bends it around leading to the oddball NY house-flavoured [and wonderfully-titled ‘Poops, I Did It Again’. Somewhat deranged and endlessly inventive, this is a bit of a winner.
