Minus DJs Magda, Troy Pierce and Marc Houle started Items & Things as a channel for the more out there sounds they encounter on their travels. With licence to go wherever the fervent brains involved take the machines, however far out and away from standard electronic procedures, Houle starts by pebble-dashing the bowl with a pulsating sheet of sequenced motifs and blerps on ‘Extreme’. Thrill Cosby’s ‘Oogity Boogity’ is a deep, heaving monster, rattling the floorboards with elephant bottom cello parps and insidious stalking momentum over a primeval radioactive swampscape. Kasper’s ‘Turn Tricks On The Side’ delves even deeper, wriggling on the bass before Alexi Delano’s claustophobic, scuttling ‘Would You?’ and its scary vocals. Simply one of the most remarkable electronic exercises you’ll encounter all year.
