DJ PREACH
OXYGEN
RELIC

Since last year, the rise of DJ Preach has been quite riveting to witness. Here, the prolific bugger follows ‘Timeport’ and the mix album on his own Relic imprint – although he’s also appeared on a bevy of labels including Intec, Primate, MBelektronics and In Charge – with another belter. Built on a malevolent drone, this is atmospheric techno of the first degree. Dramatic but funky with sinister stabs and my trainspotter’s rectum just parped out the fact that its built on similar chords to Weatherall’s transcendental ’92 remix of the Chemical Brothers’ ‘Song Of The Siren’. Remixes come from Marco V, who goes for a delirious, galloping peaker with ‘Papua New Guinea’-style vocal flights, and Eric Sneo, who goes mad on a no-holds-barred killer where the kick drum imagines its doing damage to James Blunt’s miniscule scrotum.
