Gaiser
Flashed EP
Minus

Whereas names and labels rose, came and sometimes went during 2009, Richie Hawtin’s Minus-Plus 8 empire just seemed to go from strength to strength; long relied upon to take electronic dance music into new sonic stratas but always throwing curves and often simply demolishing dance floors in the fashion the man and his like-minded cohorts have been masters of since time immemorial. Jon Gaiser is already a formidable name and is on top deadly form on this rather seismic EP which kicks off with the oddball throb of ‘Backyard’ and its hippo-eunuch effect, before the title cut goes darker and more relentless and ‘Green Steam’ takes it out with some circuit-mauling cyber-abuse. As long as Richie’s giving artists like this an outlet, while pushing out the boundaries yet further on the Minus Kontakt tour while dropping his own personal bombs, the electronic world is safe and happy new year ensured.
