Sweden’s Hertz has already had a good year and turns in a veritable stonker with this outing on Jel Ford’s label. ‘Cement’ rides a rude growler of a riff which snarls, swirls and ensures a high degree of escalating carnage. The effect is heightened by an array of edits and cuts which twist the thing inside out before leaping back out of the speakers for buttock blasting effect. ‘Sand’ is sparser but no less powerful as its brisk gallop is joined by one of those Reese/Slam-style bass-snakes. Hertz on fire indeed.
