While spinning up a worldwide following, Jamie also managed to unleash a monumental debut EP on Freak ‘N’ Chic last year called ‘The Amazon’ EP. He’s since been in demand and now pops up on Crosstown Rebels with a bollock-blasting belter which uses and mutates that ever-reliable siren noise to great effect, rather in the manner of Dan Zamani and Tim Taylor’s ‘The Siren’ of the mid-90s. The groove is sparse, stuttery and hypnotic but it’s that siren that’s already been scything off the toupees. There’s also a very useful ‘Panic Tools’ – basically a siren-apella! Meanwhile, ‘Paper Trail’ is a dubby, twisted acid-snarl hypno-beast which drops its keks midway to reveal James Blunt’s grotesque barbecued testicles. On this evidence, further releases from this bloke should come as quickly as possible.
