Sweden’s Loden explored his preoccupation with Igor Stravinskij’s ideas on repetition versus variation on his recent debut album for Ajabu, Automatismism. Here he puts his head down to whip up a trio of minimal pulsers. ‘Sender’ plants a chomping old-skool bassline with an off-beat growl of a riff to fertilise a growing mesh of sounds and efx. ‘First three’ is more sinister with dissonant, clanging riffage and cutup voices before ‘Utan’ sets off with extra propulsion, nagging subtlety in the riffs and a hippo using the gents. Obviously a talent to watch.
