Long Range

Orbital’s Phil Hartnoll is the best-known noggin in a lineup also including Nick Smith, James Day, Ben Burns, Will White of the Propellerheads and Toby May, which started coming together after Orbital first split in 2004 with the first two making the acclaimed Madness And Me album. Now expanded into a band, Long Range makes its larger presence felt in no uncertain terms with three sublime techno outings. The title track is noisy and rather ravey with naughty vocal mischief and electro fizzing. ‘Tools’ is subtly-insidious deep techno with radioactive micro-entrails glowing, before ‘Flip’ takes a more cinematic, even dubsteppy route. Obviously further fun in store here.
