Paul’s upcoming album The Truth is a belter, one of the classic dance debuts which I will salivate fully over next week. First though there’s a fair chance that ‘Knives’ has been destroying a dancefloor near you recently. Now it trailers the album with the ultimate accolade of being available on vinyl, a stripped-down techno cruise-missile lashed with whooshes and razor-edit action. ready to shred unsuspecting underwear everywhere. ‘Emotional Violence’ is a cool electro-glide with shades of Moroder in the riffage and scuttling, acid-flecked bass commotion, icing on the cake an unexpected jazz sample. ‘Radioactive’ injects some of space-disco’s drugginess into house music’s upturned bottom for further floor-destroying effect. Paul really is set to be one of the huge names to come out of 2008 and here’s a good way to start finding out why.
