The next in line more than carries the torch – this time shaped like a huge penis as an element of sexy funk is plumbed into the loins by creators Chris Liberator and Darc Marc. ’Scanners’ uncorks a fresh style of low-slung, hip-grinding funky techno – still supercharged up with a bubbling 303, but also draped in eerie sci-fi riffs and floaty noises. Mid-track exclamations include, ’Oh shit’ and ’No one is allowed to leave this room’. The flip’s ’Spanish Fly’ is stomping acid techno in the grand tradition as cosmic bloke expounds over intricately clkashing chords. Touch of Hardfloor in the tension-stoking and it works a treat. Stellar turbo-booty for the big systems.
