The mighty Kompakt has provided a good, loving home for old Rex, who now cocks his leg for a third time and squirts forth a beaut of an EP which consolidates the impact of ‘Prototype’ and ‘Frequency’. The title track pumps up his inimitable grand of Italo-disco, electro-minimal floor-burning with buxom riffage, hypno-minimal turbo-shorts and Blackpoolpier-style organ on rave overdrive. There’s all sorts of sonic squirts and weird sci-fi melodies all intricately pieced together to make a total bomb. ‘Sequencer’ is a darker growl, while the electro-flavoured ‘Every Day [Could Be Our Last Day]’ unveils a Vector Lovers kind of vocal approach. Throughout, Rex draws attention to his voluminous testicles.
