Naked Lunch

UK tech-vets Ben Long and Jamie Bissmire have always plumbed the purest seams of granite-hard techno married with a constant quest to land up in previously-unchartered territory. Now they pop up on Portugese DJ-producer A. Paul’s Naked Lunch imprint, moving on from the merciless battering of a few years back to really live up to their name. ‘K.C. Flyer’ beams in riddled with static, oddly mutating the old Adam & the Ants beat, then stripped down into a tough smacker by The Advent & Industrialyzer. ‘Time Banditz’ sets up a pulsing, woodblock pebbledashed groove lashed by grinding frequencies, again sounding like it’s being picked up from some frar-off planet. All kinds of sonic hell breaks loose on ‘Junk Waffler’ as sirens go off amidst video game carnage and car alarms, all aboard a stop-start throb-groove. They really are out on their own – still.
