Here’s a big one as The Dog enlist their favourite Detroit producer Robert Hood to rework ‘Train by The Autobahn’ off Radio Scarecrow for the album’s third EP. Of course the man’s a master of the stripped-down cruise through the outer limits and turns in a startling excursion built on amazing drum acrobatics lashed with shimmering synth manipulations fluttering and shimmering like alien pterodactyls. His 8 Mile Remix kicks off with several minutes of cinematic ambience with twinkling keys and piano motifs before the drums kick in. The Dog themselves have also done a re-edit emphasising the deep, complex futuristic melodies. To complete a towering package Sheffield’s Bass Soldier takes ‘Siiipher’ into an eerie dubstep back alley mugged by huge bass and malevolent blocks of sound. Classic electronic heaven all round.
