Big news here as a spanking new label blasts out of the Minus silo. Items & Things has been started by Run Stop restore’s Magda, Marc Houle and Troy Pierce, launching in blazing form with each contributing a track, although buddy Konrad Black kicks off with the contagiously strutting electro-boogie vamp of ‘Coma Couch Surfing’. Magda’s ‘Black Leather Wonder’ harks back to the 80s with its mutant b-boy groove descended from ‘Trans Europe Express’ but cloaked in spooky swathes of eerie efx. On ‘Kicker’ Houle plays minimal ping-pong with bloop action and a riff gradually losing its marbles. Troy Pierce updates that unsettling Master C & J night stalking paranoia on ‘The Day After Yesterday’. Over a dark, almost medieval riff, Gibby Miller becomes the stalker and will scare the shit out of the floor. Four unique and diverse takes on electronic music which bode frighteningly well for this label.
