Martin Wheeler has been supporting his Afterglow album with some storming gigs that have obviously brought out the techno beast in his music. ‘Raumklang’ has been the hit of the shows and here it is in all its flame-breathing glory. It’s a builder, starting with hall-of-mirrors effects, a bison’s scrotum of a bassline and uproarious synth action. Next Derailleur takes ‘Dusk Panorama’ off the album and roughs it up with deep, growling minimal groove while keeping the cinematic Vector Lovers feel. Lastly, ‘Little Plastic Figures’ nods to the Motor City with its dark night-crawling feel, urgent riffage and glacial melodies. Ultimately, Vector Lovers directed at causing dancefloor carnage with triumphant consequences.
