Back To Mine With AJ Gibson (Godskitchen)

AJ Gibson is a DJ that needs no introduction… AJ was one of the founding members of global club brand Godskitchen and one of clublands most loyal and long standing resident DJs. Best known for his eclectic musical style and ability to play alongside world class DJ’s from any genre of dance music, AJ Gibson established himself as one of the scene’s most successful DJ’s, and was personally invited to play the closing set at Godskitchen’s last ever club event in 2016. AJ’s focus as a DJ has always been the crowd and with a career spanning 2 decades, his love for the dance music scene has recently seen him make the move from the dance floor to the studio. With a string of recent club records under his belt from labels such as Vandit, Rielism, Perfecto, Discover, AVA and Universal Nation as well as a number of remixes of classics, AJ Gibson is very quickly becoming an extremely in demand producer. As Godskitchen returns to Birmingham with a huge line-up and day-and-night takeover on Bank Holiday Sunday, 24th May over multiple venues across Digbeth Triangle including XOYO, Birmingham, DMCWorld goes Back To Mine With AJ Gibson.

Gat Decor – Passion
This reminds me of when dance music was first becoming popular for me.

Gat Decor - Passion (Naked Mix)

Sunscreem – Perfect Motion
For me, this is another track that builds into a great groove.

Perfect Motion (Boys Own Mix)

Madonna – Vogue
I love this track and feel that Madonna had a lot of influence on early dance music.

Depeche Mode – Personal Jesus
I love the way this song merges rock with dance music.

Sash! – Encore Une Fois (Dancing Divaz Club Mix)
I remember playing this at the very first Godskitchen New Year’s Eve party in Northampton. Midnight hit and the place went off. For me, this was the start of club trance.

Ratty – Sunrise (Here I Am) (Club Mix)
This track reminds me of playing music at home while getting ready to go out and play clubs. It was four or five nights a week for me, travelling miles up and down the motorways as the UK superclub scene had just erupted. Good times.

Ratty - Sunrise (Here I Am) (Club Mix) (2000)

Lovechild – Liberta
Trance music was starting to become a massive part of my life, and I just loved the energy of this track.

Atlantis & Avatar – Fiji (Lange Remix)
I was lucky enough to be given a test pressing of this, and I’m surprised I didn’t wear it out on my decks at home. I’ll never forget being one of the first people to play this in a club, and to this day I can’t remember another track getting such a reaction.

The Thrillseekers – Synaesthesia (En-Motion 2004 Re-edit)
To this day, I still feel this is one of the most beautiful trance tracks ever made.

Travel – ‘Bulgarian’ (Signum Remix)
For me, this represents the era where I made my name. Although I play right across the dance music spectrum these days, I still love this music. Any time of day, anywhere, at the right moment, this just puts a smile on my face.
