Back To Mine With Mercurio

Mercurio has spent a quarter of a century shaping the more melodic end of the house and techno spectrum. He is a DJ, live act and experienced musician who plays guitar and has landed on many of the most influential labels from The Soundgarden to Watergate. Along the way, he has collaborated frequently with countryman Hernán Cattáneo, including back in 2025 on this label with the ‘2009 EP’. As his superb new collaborative release with Sasha, ‘Songstar EP’, lands on Last Night On Earth, DMCWorld goes Back to Mine with Mercurio.

Van Halen – 1984

I love this intro and the time/moment of music it came out, it seems those pads were futuristics at that moment and they give the intro to a great album. Many interesting rock bands were adding synths and electronic sounds to their music. Pop was getting into rock music.

The Police – Secret Journey

The Police is for me one of the best bands of history, this is a gem in one of their best albums “Ghosts in the Machine”, maybe together with Reggata de Blanc.

Radiohead – Everything in Its Right Place

This is like the best synth riff ever played, giving the intro to an amazing Radiohead album. Kid A is an important turn that the band made with the sound in my opinion, towards electronic sounds.

Marillion – Childhood’s End?

I love the passages in 5/8 of this track, it is also a part of a great time album Misplaced Childhood, by Marillion.

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now?

Johnny Marr is one of my favorite guitar players and the guitars in this track are just amazing live recorded ones, improvising in the studio and experimenting with pedals. This track was the B side for a single album, with another amazing song “William, It Was Really Nothing”.

Genesis – Keep It Dark

Keep it dark from the album Abacab. Great Album, amazing track in 6/4 time signature, keeping it while getting into the pad melodic section.

David Bowie – Loving the Alien

From the album “Tonight” – one of the best tracks of David Bowie.

The Beach Boys – California Dreamin’

I love this version of California Dreamin, I find it sounds just a little better than the original song by The Mamas & the Papas which is also an amazing version anyway. It’s hard to tell which version is better.

Radiohead – House of Cards

The best song from another of the best albums from Radiohead, being its 11 album studio, yet one of the best.

Radiohead - House of Cards

Jimi Hendrix – All Along the Watchtower

Jimi Hendrix gives Bob Dylan classics an amazing sound and groove, guitars have a lot of expression after each verse which are also sung with a lot of soul… Love this version.
