M.Luc – In My Soul (M Luc’s Soulcomotion Remix) – Quantize Recordings

A personal friend, I have been playing this is a wonderful gospel-influenced track since M.Luc gave it to me. I love that it has two distinctive sections that make for fun mixing directions.

Boo Williams – The-B-W-Groove – Chiwax

This personal classic came out on Relief Records in 1994, and represents a whole cannon of Techno-leaning House Music, that is commonly referred to in Chicago as just “Tracks”. It is great that Chiwax re-released this, as it wasn’t available digitally until now. Slam Dance!

Dan Shake – Freak – Shake

This lovely journey is an acid mix of one of favourite tracks from GQ, Disco Nights. I featured the Chicago classic original as my last track in my 2015 Boiler Room set at Gramaphone. Acid + Disco = Perfection. I feel like this track was personally made for me.

Dames Brown & Eddie Fowlkes – Do It (Zach Witness Remix vs. Ae Ext Edit) – Defected Records

This epic Detroit combination of Eddie Fowlkes meeting the killer vocal ensemble of Dames Brown geting the Zach Witness remix treatment is a total funk-fueled winner. This remix is very reminiscent of something Amp Fiddler would make, and it needed some sections extended, so I cut a version up for my personal use.

Usher – You Make Me Wanna… (Tuff & Jam Dance Mix) – LaFace Records

Great late-90s garage mix of this popular Usher jam. I totally forgot about this remix until a friend of mine play it recently and know I have it back in rotation. Tuff & Jam are always on point with their iconic swing status.

Lauren Flax – Acid Ghetto – Dance Trax, Vol. 16 Dance Trax, Vol. 16Dance Trax, Vol. 16

Just the kinda of straight up acid the world needs. A dear friend, former studio roommate and all around killer artist, Lauren Flax evokes the ghost of Armando here with a modern flare all her own. A masterclass in DJ-friendly acid music.

Andrew Emil, Red Eye, Ron Carroll – Can’t Stop (Main Mix) – Salted Music

A project over two years in the making, I am overjoyed to have made this disco house fuelled tribute to my hometown with these two dear friends. It’s an honour to have this released on another well respected friend’s wonderful label from San Francisco.

The Illustrious Blacks – Illusion (Extended Mix) – Classic Music Company

Been a fan of these two for some time now, and this is such a great record to drop in almost anytime in the evening. A vocal-driven story of transcendence realised through heavy hitting drum programming and hypnotic synthscapes.

Twan, Billy O’Malley – The Soul (Andrew Emil Dreamix) – S&S Records

This is a recent remix I did for a pair of local up-and-coming artists in Chicago. I used some samples from the interlude music to the 70s-era The Price Is Right, mixed with some vocal parts they supplied and some spoken words from Nina Simone.

Waajeed – Got Me Burnin – DIRT TECH RECK

This one has been in the bag for a while now. It’s a versatile track that can work in many places, from deep house to more banging sections of sets. Waajeed does an expert job of using a famous Loleatta Holloway sample in a new way.

Demuir – Ain’t No Stoppin – Heist Recordings

This recent release is lovely highly swung funk number aimed directly at the dancefloor. A recently relocated Chicago resident, Demuir creates a very straight forward groover that will bring back any dance floor back to life.

Change Request & Saucy Lady – Be Dramatic – 20/20 Vision Recordings

After being a HUGE fan of Saucy Lady for some time, it was a great honor to have her love my demo of this track and want to write a song to it. She sent me her vocals back just around 24 hours after I sent her the Logic session! Such a pro, it was awesome to have this disco funk jam curated by Crazy P to kick off their Curates series of releases on 20/20 Vision.
