Subtitled ‘a view on folk’, this wide ranging collection takes in styles big and small. Jazzanova’s record collection would never be described as anything other than eclectic, so it’s no surprise to see 4 Hero’s mighty ‘Les Fleurs’ rubbing shoulders with tracks from Magnet, Ashley Slater, Husky Rescue and The Beta Band. As the set climaxes with the widescreen brass of Marden Hill’s ‘Bardot’, it’s satisfying to note the skip button is totally redundant – an after hours album with plenty to say but with no effort required by the listener.
