If you like your house music with a bit of bounce, then Cassy’s contribution to the Fabric series will get you moving in all sorts of directions. She is refreshingly free of any pretence with the way she pulls this together, and the track selection – not to mention the mixing – is really strong. Early on in the mix the rolling drums of Livio Imrprota’s ‘Mare010’ make a strong impression, and it’s good to hear the Pachanga Boys’ Blue Remix of John Talabot’s piece of retro nostalgia ‘When The Past Was Present’. Later on the party really gets going though, and Cassy crosses over a number of different and intoxicating styles, with the twin hit of Emptyset’s ‘Completely Gone’ – a kind of boombox house – and Benjamin Damage’s ‘010x’ – all piano and no filler – especially good. Cassy’s sense of timing and choice of beats puts a spring in the step, in one of Fabric’s strongest recent compilations.
