I wasn’t prepared for this. Two whole, digitally mixed sets of K-Klass remixes and studio material from their 25 years in the business. On paper it doesn’t sound like it should work, the highly respected pair shining on individual tracks but surely not having enough material to cut it in a whole mix. How wrong I was, for this is a really well compiled anthology that shows Andy Williams, Carl Thomas, Russ Morgan and Paul Roberts could all spot a great song to remix, usually with a bit of soul, while their own contributions to 1990s dance – ‘Rhythm Is A Mystery’, ‘Let Me Show You’ and ‘What You’re Missing’ – might sound dated but they still have the same effect, to raise a smile and get your feet moving. It’s great to hear again the remixes of Juliet Roberts (‘I Want You’ has a brilliant breakdown), Carleen Anderson, Sunscreem and the classic Bobby Brown, whose ‘Two Can Play That Game’ appears in full here, even with the dodgy slower rap in the middle! So if you knew your Pharmacy Dubs and your K-Klassic mixes, you’ll know to pick this one up. It’s a cracker for people of a certain age (i.e. me!) but if you’ve not heard K-Klass work their magic before I strongly recommend you start here!
