Love, loath or totally don’t care less, the one thing you can say about Armand is that his musical taste is certainly varied. After starting out in the underground house scene, in a little under a decade he’s dabbled in drum n bass, disco-house, hip-hop and now moves into the angst electro-rock market trying to ride on the coattails of the Scissor Sister and Mylo. To be fair “Nympho” has already yielded a brace of hits (“Hear My Name” and “My My My”), and looks set to score a third with the “Easy Lover”-sounding “Into You Eyes”. But that’s where the radio-friendliness ends. The remainder a mixture of angst punk-influenced vocals, chants and thrashing guitars and electronic grooves; “Sugar” the only notable exception.
