BENJAMIN DIAMOND
OUT OF MYSELF
!K7

He of Stardust’s ‘Music Sounds Better with You’, ‘Out of Myself’ is a downgrading from club baritone to a daydreaming sigh, and look elsewhere if you’re after belting club numbers; Diamond’s staying put with toe-tapping pop, electronically-tagged, breezy guitar singsongs and bedtime settlers. The same cloth appears to have been used to cut the album’s majority, including the poppier than Rola Cola ‘Let’s Get High’, the Foo Fighters-lite title track, the Sixpence None The Richer backing to ‘She’s Away’ and the keyboard finisher ‘Sun is Shining’; nonetheless, this is a perky chart target basking in summer rays.
