There simply aren’t many finer exponents of house music than Kerri Chandler out there, and the Madhouse imprint he’s been behind for over 20 years has epitomised that continuing excellence. Here they knock out eleven tracks ahead of the world at large taking residence in Amsterdam for ADE, with a slew of classy four to the floor joints perfect for the modern house aficionado. The stand outs include ‘Perculating Nights’ from the collaborating hands of Rhythm Operator & Blueshift, which has a vocal which harks back to the golden age of dreamy deep house of the mid nineties and lovely sparkly keys shuffling against a warm bassline. Marsupials ‘Hoth’ is just lovely string drenched house music, the kind that works well early doors or when you want a mid set breather (helped in no part here by some rough and ready kick drums and steady progression along the way). The best though is the final track, where Don Crisp drops a sublime slab of soulful house which strides wonderfully along, a muted siren wailing i the background as chords drift in slowly, nagging bass appears before a piano line steals the show. The rest isn;t quite as good but this is still solid house music at it’s best.
