Lindstrom – Another Station (Todd Terje Remix)
The original is a good song but Todd Terje is a total genius and this is an absolute classic. It’s impossible not to move to that bassline. I never want this song to end.
Hercules & Love Affair – Hercules Theme
Sexy disco vibes and happy memories of playing this record after many messy nights out and attempting to sing like Anohni at 4am and waking up every neighbour on my street.
Johnny Mathis – Something to Sing About
I’m not his biggest fan in the world but this is an incredible record. He wrote it in the 80s as part of an album with Nile Rogers but it didn’t get released until recently. This one is an absolute vibe. I’d love to know why they didn’t release it at the time.
St Germain – Rose Rouge
I remember seeing a Giles Peterson advert when I was a kid where he was walking up a street putting records on car windshields and it was soundtracked by this song. I remember thinking the whole vibe was so cool.
Marvin Gaye – Time To Get It Together
It’s very possible that this is my favourite Marvin Gaye song, and an immediately feel good vibe despite the sombre sentiment.
The S.O.S Band – Just Be Good To Me
It’s 9 minutes long. Nine. NINE. A NINE MINUTE POP SONG. Maybe this party has a time machine and we could go back to 1983. Also, The Vibe 98.8. IYKYK
Isaac Hayes – Walk On By
Has to be this version, the 12 minute one, it’s such an incredible arrangement, especially the second 6 mins.
Todd Rundgren – Hello It’s Me
‘No Todd, No Party’ is a slogan I pretty much stick to nowadays. I can’t not put any Todd Rundgren into lists at the moment, he pairs perfectly with everything. Beef, cheese, red wine, anything. And there’s no better feeling than singing wildly out of tune to a Todd Rundgren choru.
Mulatu Astatke – Tezeta
It’s time to start winding down now. Have a little lie down and contemplate your irrelevant existence with some Mulatu Astatke.
Boards Of Canada – In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country
This is one for when everybody has gone home and you just curl us and put the volume on low enough so you can just about hear it.
