It’s early and late in Rio for Layo & Bushwacka; in terms of house music, that is. The first CD looks at earlier house from the likes of Marshall Jefferson, Kym Mazelle and Lil Louis, keeping a trippy groove throughout as Metro Area and Kenny Larkin (via Richie Hawtin) are added to the mix. CD2 looks at the present day more, with Martin Buttrich, Guy Gerber, Pier Bucci and Adam Beyer supplying the subterranean bass and dark rhythms. Effectively done, if not always having the spark that characterises the duo’s live sets.
