Roberto Bosco
Universe EP
Wave

This was a highlight of Monday’s radio show [fnoob.com, every other Monday, 9-11pm!], and yet another blinder to emerge on Francois Kevorkian’s Wave Music. First I should also mention the ultra-deep and dense ‘Absence’ EP released last month on the label by Area before commencing gibbering like an idiot over this fabulous set from Italy’s Roberto Bosco. The opening ‘Space Drone’ sets the scene, throbbing into alien dub-techno territory which sees Roberto subtly turn up the pressure with fizzing meteor shower effects and ghostly clanks. This Basic Channel vibe carries on into ‘Falling Stars’ but pumped up with trouser elements like bubbling pulses and major drop action. ‘My Universe’ is a bass-heavy swoosh-fest for the early hours melon sesh while the closing ‘Trust In Sound’ recalls those marvellous Dutch hallucino-house outings of the 90s, complete with female vocal, acid and overall hypnotic quality. This man is a major talent, but then you wouldn’t expect anything else from Wave.
