Back To Mine with Rob Hes

The Howlin’ – Demon Child

I’m always listening to Spotify. And I’m so bad with names, I always put a mixture of genres on, and that’s when I recently discovered this group. This song gave me so much energy and inspiration. Too bad the song is so short haha. But it’s on repeat many times here on Sunday’s. You have to love it!

Dotan – Home

I have to say I’m a fan of this guy who grew up in Amsterdam. Check out his whole album ‘7 Layers’ if you like this song. I’m waiting for his next album as this one is from 2014. Great music for a dinner or a moment to relax after a day working on music in the studio.

Soulwax – Is It Always Binary

When I was a young kid I started drumming when I was at the age of 7. Since then I always have a weak point for ‘drum’ tracks. If you don’t know Soulwax, check them out. Real cool original stuff. I have to see them perform live one day! Every studio nerd like me will like all those cool knobs and buttons on stage.

Jacco Gardner – Clear The Air

This guy is around 30, but makes music which sounds like the 60s. He is doing pretty well now touring around the world. With a lot of analog stuff what let it sound like that. And a funny fact, he is from my city Hoorn (Netherlands) where I been born and raised.

Hozier – Work Song

I’m really in to this ‘Singer Songwriter’ stuff. I’m loving his whole vibe. Especially when you have a good sound system.

Gesaffelstein – Viol

Big phat analog electric sounds. Who doesn’t like this? Thinking outside of the box music. Real inspiration to work on more album stuff…. Hint 🙂

Chef’ Special – On Shoulders

I don’t know why but I always feel proud when an act from Holland does well. So here again a band from the Netherlands. Nice for a sunny day, too bad its 10 months of winter weather here.

James Vincent McMorrow – Higher Love

I played this song a couple years ago so much when I was on holiday. Every time I hear this song now I think about that holiday in Turkey. All-inclusive hotel, sun, doing nothing. Yeah, it was an awesome time, and also a cool song.

The Prodigy – Breathe

When I was a teenager this was the bomb! This song comes from 1997 and it’s still so good. For the people who were born around that time, hope you did your homework because you can’t miss this one.

Opgezwolle – Gekkenhuis FT Jawat

Also this track is from long time ago. Some dutch hip-hop. Still in love with the crazy beats and their amazing voices. Timeless!

Rob Hes (SCI+TEC, Tronic, Senso)

Meet Rob Hes, one of the brightest new stars on the techno horizon. His sound can be described as raw, energetic but very musical at the same time. He is one of those artists where you immediatly recognise his work as being his, without him repeating a few signature tricks over and over again. Rob has drawn the attention of the global techno scene big time lately, but newcomer might not be the best way to describe this multi talent. With more than 15 years of studio experience and countless releases under different aliases under his belt, this is definitely one of those raw diamonds that has remained hidden for far too long. But don’t worry, with recent releases on Dubfire’s ‘SCI+TEC’, Christian Smith’s ‘Tronic’, the infamous ‘Bedrock’ label and his upcoming release on Oliver Huntemann’s Senso, he’s
getting more eyes on him every time his music hits the stores.\
