This track synthesises, in the best way possible, the real atmosphere of the first parties I went to. So underground, groovy, direct, so 90’s and the amazing video is the icing on the cake.
Autechre – Doctrine
A clear example of electronic music at its best for me. A track where every layer and simple structure creates an emotional movement of beats and melodies to shape a perfect soundscape.
808 State – Flow Coma (AFX Remix)
Aphex Twin and his massive productions have need no introduction. His “26 Mixes For Cash” was a milestone in my teenage listening, this version of 808 State’s acid classic is simply a bomb.
The Dillinger Escape Plan & Mike Patton – When Good Dogs Do Bad Things
I played for years the guitar in metal/hardcore/grind/postcore bands. This song represents the highest level that could be pushed in this genre, extremely technical, aggressive and chaotic but atmospheric at the same time.
Pink Floyd – Sheep
Simply my favorite song from one of the best bands ever.
Beastie Boys – So What Cha Want
My relationship with rap/hip hop music has been limited but despite this there are some artists who have caught my attention, this song from Beastie Boys especially.
Apparat – Granular Bastard
If a machine could dream it would be more or less like this track
The Mars Volta – Cicatriz ESP
One of my favorite bands with a song which is a long trip into psychedelia, wild rhythms and musical improvisation, a manifest of their style.
Choke – Numb Phase
At the beginning of my approach as a musician, punk was really important for the direct and simple way it was played and listened to. This band however, reached the next level, delivering a powerful, extremely fast and technically complex, almost jazzy, version of punk with a strong emotional impact, like in this song.
Other Lives – For 12
Back in the days i played also this genre, a sort of alternative, evocative folk. This song was very inspiring, a dreamy folk track with a lot of Ennio Morricone recalls and awesome arrangements.
Ivory – Your Grace (Connected)
Milan born DJ and producer Ivory brings his eclectic mix of sounds and styles to a standout debut EP on Connected in early 2020. This exciting artist first started in music by playing the guitar in several bands, performing punk rock, psychedelia, post core and folk. In parallel to live music he developed an interest in electronic sounds and club culture, eventually leading him to become a DJ and producer. Now he mixes up analog synths, positive melodies and strong African rhythms on labels like Skatcity, Azzur Frau Blau and Isolate. Says Ivory about the release, “The relation between art and who makes it, the artist, is something really strong and definitely devoted,” he says. The art pushes an artist to do something for love, to stay loyal with his grace, the miracle of translating our inner essence into something you can show and share. The Your Grace EP’ is about this, devotion, passion and art. “Excellently moving opener ‘Your Grace’ sets a mournful tone thanks to the sombre lead synth smears and deep, introspective drums. The hypnotic ‘Things We Do For Love’ is more edgy, with a busy lead and warm drums run through with thundering claps and loose percussion designed to make you move, it’s a slow burning but enthralling track. ‘The Pack Survives’ then explores more cosmic and melody grooves, with celestial keys and rolling drums sinking you into a gorgeous musical reverie. Closer ‘Madena’ ft Auggie is brightly lit with tense chord sequences and rumbling, tribal drums, it’s filled with a sense of drama and makes for another perfect house music adventure.
