Back To Mine With ADRIANNA

ADRIANNA is a rising star in tech house and techno, with a sound characterised by blending vocals with tough, club-ready beats. She started 2023 with a bang, releasing her Beatport Hype hit ‘Confidence’ on DJ S.K.T’s Stashed Music, and following up with her festival winner ‘Falling’ on Temple House Music. As her new single  ‘Got The Night’ drops on Temple House Music, DMCWorld goes back to mine with ADRIANNA.

Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner – Sky and Sand

I love this song; the intro is so recognisable. Fun to loop in and it’s one people get really excited by. I used to end sets with this one in Doha or Maldives and it’s a really nice way to calm the night. Lyrics are incredible.

Kate Bush – Cloudbusting (Young Edits Mix)

When I came across this remix a few years ago, I started to replay this video all the time. Kate Bush is so talented and I love this repetitive synth and strings. It’s so great, plus this dancer in the video reminds me of old school ravers. Rommel, can you teach me those moves please? I think I knew some of them but forgot.

Lisa Shaw – Always (Lovetronic Vocal)

A timeless classic. Clearly, I love my lyrics and vocals. Lisa Shaw’s voice is just butter, and the texture is bliss.

Felix Da Housecat feat. Miss Kittin – Madame Hollywood (Extended)

(Sigh) Miss Kitten, she was a huge influence on my musical tastes. Her lyrics really are art that have this juxtaposition of literal/satire that mirror  society. She is so cool. I saw her in Tokyo in about 2008 or 09 and watched her performing live vocals and was blown away. Huge inspiration.

Stefan Gruenwald & Lokee feat. Pearl Andersson – Wonderful Life

This is one I play at home all the time and dance around. It’s light and uplifting. I love the bass line, and lyrics. Just feels a bit like a sunny day.

The Knife – Heartbeats (Rex The Dog Remix)

When I love songS, I avidly listen on repeat. This one I started listening to so long ago and it still sounds as good as the first time. I could play in 5 times in a row right now and not get bored. It has that techie-electro feel and sounds retro but modern (enough) at the same time.

Womack & Womack – Teardrops (Official Music Video)

The first time I ever heard this song, that I can recall wasn’t till about 2015, strangely enough. I fell in love with it, I think I saw the video at the same time and was just a bit in awe of these beautiful musicians doing their thing.

Robyn – Who’s That Girl? (Rex The Dog Remix)

My 2nd Rex the Dog remix on this list. I heard this in a DJ set once and love this version. It has an 80’s vibe to it and the production is very excellent all the way through but especially the build-up at 3:25 as well as 5:45, the frequency at 6:11 is so satisfying.  I love the lyrics and Robyn’s voice on this.

Felix Da Housecat – Ready 2 Wear (Benny Benassi Remix)

I love electro, these 2 are a great duo and this is one of those songs I would put on if I needed a bit of a lift. Benni Benassi was a big influence growing up and I really enjoyed seeing Felix Dj’ing in Canada.

Baz Luhrmann – Everybody’s Free To Wear Sunscreen (with lyrics)

I first heard this song was in 2005, at a time when I was in a dark place. It was played to me by someone very dear to me (who unexpectedly passed away shortly after, and coincidentally was the first person who showed me some tricks on CDJ’s). Although I don’t listen to this one all the time now, the lyrics stick in my head and randomly pop up when useful. For me, this is truly an incredible piece by Baz Luhrmann. Highly recommend if you aren’t familiar with it.
