Peter Gelderblom

A new year, a new sound…Dutch Rave courtesy of The Netherlands’ superstar

Interview by Dan Prince

Peter a big welcome back to DMCWORLD…where in the world are you right now?

“Thank you very much!! Nice to be back at DMC!! Currently I am in the studio in a small village near Rotterdam in the Netherlands.”

You are a huge Buzz Chart regular and you have kicked off 2015 in fine style with your Randy Collé/MC Gee track ‘Beat of the Drum’. All sorts of descriptions flying about…Dutch Rave, Oliver Helden’s Future House with stabs of old skool rave…how would you describe this piece of firing rave techno!?

‘Beat of the Drum’ is doing really well at the moment. It is supported by almost all the big names in the industry. We were inspired by the old rave records which came mostly from Holland, with those sounds we created something new and we called it ‘Dutch Rave’.”

So much coming out from you at the moment, your ‘Nu Nu’ track on Vendetta, a Dutch Rave Remix for Rio Dela Duna…what else are you working on at the moment?

We are working on so many projects right now. There are a lot of ‘Dutch Rave’ tracks coming up. In March we have a release with Kris Kiss on WORK/SPINNIN. A project with Armand Pena for Subliminal and we are also working on a remix for a huge disco band which we can’t name yet. Next to that we are also working on several ghost productions.”

Some cool photos you posted on Facebook of your new Temazo Main Studio which is now up and ready. Couldn’t help noticing the arcade game lurking in there…who’s the king of what on it then?

Haha that’s a good question!!! I think DJ JEAN is the king of the arcade especially the Donkey Kong game!! Randy and I are the best on the football table, we beat everybody at the office.”

How does the production partnership work between yourself and Randy…who excels in what department?

Randy is the studio guy and knows everything about sound and engineering and I came up with the ideas. This year I am in the industry for 35 years so I have a great network. Most of the time I already signed the track when it’s not even finished.”

When was the last time you had a massive argument about music?

“Around 20 years ago when i told my former Boss that House Music isn’t just a hype, but it’s the future for the next 20 years…and some small arguments about EDM off course – but I respect every kinda house related sound.”

And finally, who better to ask than the great Peter Gelderblom? A piece of advice you can offer to the thousands of aspiring producers and DJs wishing toi follow in your footsteps…

“The most important thing is to have fun!! Believe in yourself and work hard. The music industry is a jungle nowadays, don’t jump from sound to sound, stay focused and listen to arrangements and Tutorials from other DJ/Producers, NEVER GIVE UP!! Look at me – I’m 50 years old, and still going strong….”
