Getting set for a huge event at New York’s Governors Island!

Hey Mr. Gold welcome back to DMCWORLD. Where in the world are you right now?
I just got back from a trip to the US, I played Vegas and Los Angeles last weekend.
What was the first piece of music you heard this morning after rolling out of bed?
Haha! Actually it was some random song on the radio, I sometimes turn it on when I’m having my first cup of coffee
A huge date in everyone’s Big Apple diary is looming, Governors Island, New York. Who’s joining you on the ones and twos for this amazing spectacle?
I can’t reveal the full line-up yet but so far we have announced Bright Lights (the singer of my track ‘Believe’) will do a live performance AND a DJ set – and we have my German fellow MOGUAI joining me!
What are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend?

Tell us about that Berlin sunset moment you just had.
We were having a barbecue on the rooftop of a hotel downtown – so nice! I love Berlin in the summer, so many great outdoor places to hang!
Your anthem of summer 2015?
My track with Bright Lights ‘Believe’.
How did Fold Festival in New York go, it looked immense?
It was a very unusual thing as the line-up was so diverse – and it was fun! I got to meet Nile Rodgers (actually I played my DJ set right after him and his band on the same stage) and it was really interesting how this kind of fresh approach to a festival line-up worked, people seemed to enjoy it a lot. Me too!
Word on the street there’s a new Dash Berlin Remix you’ve been working on?
Oh yes! It’s for their track with Jonathan Mendelsohn on the vocals, it’s called “World Falls Apart” and it’s coming out on the 29th of August! It’s very melodic remix I did; typical Thomas Gold, I’d say.
The festival of the summer?
An up and coming producer to watch out for over the next 12 months?
Amersy – I really like what he is doing right now, all his tracks are well produced and they just work in the clubs!
You are in and out of Las Vegas all the time. What is the most rock & roll night you have ever had there?
I haven’t had a really crazy night yet but hanging out in the clubs after I did my set at EDC this year was fun – and it was a loooong night.
How has the crowd’s musical knowledge improved over the last year or so, they used to dance to any old shit…?
I think you can always drop ‘old shit’ if it’s presented in the right way! I often mix older stuff with new tracks in my sets, it can bring back some nice memories to your mind – maybe from last summer or from a festival and this makes people smile – and I think this is what music is all about – positive vibes and emotions!
And finally, what is coming next from your studio wise?
After the remix for Dash Berlin end of August, I have a brand new release coming up on Armada beginning of September. Then, the next one is already finished as well, it’s a collaboration with my Buddy Deniz Koyu and it will be out on Protocol. After that, I have another track coming out which I did together with Lush & Simon…and I’m working on more new stuff!
