Trade – The Grand Finale

Miguel Pellitero (DTPM) – the man who loved to chat to the Trade’s fruit machine

How are you feeling about this event being the FINAL one?

Never say never.

Who is your greatest Dj hero from Trade and why?

Malcom Duffy is my biggest influence.

If you could invite any star to Trade for THE FINAL who would it be and why?

Willi Ninja. He was and still is mesmerising. A pioneer with an unusual way of understanding rhythm and translating it into movement.

What is your most embarrassing Trade moment?

Having a rather lengthy conversation with the fruit machine.

What made Trade so unique?

So many reasons …The no-prejudice policy…The sound systems…The music programming…from US house and techno during the night, to the harder European House in the early morning; I think it encouraged many DJs and producers to create specific tracks to facilitate the transition, a very creative place to be in. It kickstarted a global new dance genre. That in itself, is an undoubted achievement. Walking down those stairs it was clear, no one was there to kill time until the first train.

All time Trade Top 3 tracks

1. ‘Kick it In’ Wicked Mix – Keith Liman  [1995]

“Ghetto House with a load of funk”

2. ’Soakin’ Wet’ –  99 Allstars  [1996]

“A signature ‘Trade sound’ excursion”

3.‘Sharp Tools Volume One’ –  The Sharp Boys  [1995]

“All the three essential Turnmills tracks “
