The sun is shining, there’s not a cloud in the sky and line-up announcements are coming at us thick and fast. This means one thing aside from that huge grin on your face – festival season is approaching.
So whether you need to book a flight half way across the world, pack up a tent to prepare for a muddy weekend or just grab your oldest pair of trainers as fast as you can because your next local day-time festival begins in hour, we suggest you do it right now – after all there’s no time like the present and it gives you time to decide what acts you’re going to see off that blockbuster line-up you’re off to experience.
That won’t be the only decision you’ll be making though this summer. In fact, you will need to decide on what festivals you are going to attend before deciding on what DJs you are going to see. To help you choose, here is part eight of my festival tips for 2016.
The Masked Ball – 20th-22nd May 2016 – Porthleven, Cornwall, UK
Taking place down on the south-west coast of England, The Masked Ball brings it’s breathtakingly themed stage and multilevel party kingdom down to Cornwall to celebrate a decade of decadence over the course of three special days each with their own unique vibes and incredibly themed arenas.
Carved into a cliff-top near Porthleven, a variety of headline acts will help celebrate the 10th edition.
Such names will include 2manydjs (DJ set), Basement Jaxx (DJ set), Groove Armada, B.Traits, Ben Pearce, Julio Bashmore and more.
Junction 2 – 4th June 2016 – Brentford, UK
Debuting at the beginning of June, the highly anticipated Junction 2 festival will blend together natural beauty, splendid rivers, woodland pathways and hidden pathways all conquered by remarkable industrial features.
Focusing on impeccable sound, high quality production and a music policy of simply techno, the combined ethos of Drumcode, The Hydra and Closer will all be celebrated on this particular day.
Such a debut will see performances from the likes of Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Ame, Carl Craig presents Modular Pursuits, Dixon, Ida Engberg, Mano Le Tough, Nina Kraviz, Pan-Pot and more.
MADE Birmingham – 30th July 2016 – Birmingham, UK
Situated in the very heart of Birmingham’s industrial quarter, MADE Birmingham unites a world class electronic music line-up with some of the second city’s very best visual and street artists as well as designers and food vendors.
All of the above alone should be enough to convince you to grab yourself a ticket but if you are still in two minds, just wait until you see the billing.
The likes of Rudimental (DJ set), Stormzy, Andy C, Noisia, Redlight, Monki and more will be appearing in Digbeth as July prepares for the transition into August.
