Taking the dancefloor on a ride without a F.E.A.R. in the world

Welcome back to DMC towers young man, you are in the midst of some serious dancefloor excitement due to your ‘Give Me A Ride’ and also your Ian Brown bootleg. Let’s kick off with ‘Give Me A Ride’, tell us the history of the tune…

“The gimme a ride track was just a happy accident really Dan. I started the track as a loop on a flight back from Ibiza last summer then played it out as a dub all summer, it got great reactions then I thought it was time the rest of the world had a listen. So it’s out now on dojo..

.”

So many big names are hammering your Ian Brown rework of ‘F.E.A.R.’ – unbelievable re-work young man. When did the idea come about for it?

“The idea came about on many a very, very long drive round the UK with one of my best friends Dave who used to drive me everywhere. We were both massive Ian Brown fans and he kept playing the instrumental to me. I used to say…”this would make and amazing rework”. He phoned me the other day when he heard it and said “it’s only taken you 5 years, better late than never eh!” Haha!”

Do you know whether the big man has heard it?

“I’m not sure. But if he has I hope he likes it, I spent a lot of time doing it justice

.”

You have been on Facebook this week asking people what they thought on the new Daft Punk material. Well, what are your thoughts? One famous DJ called it Dad House…

”If it’s Dad House then I’m a big Dad House fan. Everyone loves Daft Punk and to be fair, if you want my analytical opinion of it, they are bridging the pop/cool gap in there own way. What makes it even firkin cooler is that they are doing it in their own style which hasn’t dated one bit in all these years, love it or hate it, it’s well done and no-one can whinge at that.

”

What are the plans for Ibiza 2013?

“I’m going next week, I’ll be in and out as usual at my usual residencies.”

What are you most looking forward to from Ibiza 2013?

“To be honest I’m most looking forward to a break from the studio and getting to see the sun for a few hours every day, worked very hard on music this winter and time to reap the rewards

”People asking for the track that’s actually playing is always a good one

.”

How much production do you get done whilst you are on tour, or is it simply a case of waiting for you to get home and hit the studio?

”I do all my beats whilst on tour and I make synth patches while hanging round in hotel rooms, I’m a bit ocd with how I work, I save jobs for certain times so I can do the fun bit at high quality in the studio.”

“Dojo is all go at the moment, we’ve got some wicked releases coming up and I feel very proud. For me just watch this space, I’ve been a busy boy…”
