The Willers Brothers

What do you get when you mix two brothers, with equal amounts of ambition, natural talent and a fair old dose of Northern charm? The Willers Brothers that’s what! Without doubt one of the most exciting young acts to hit London’s electronic music scene in ages with their current smash ’Mind Craft Glasses’ getting massive support from the likes of Marco Carola and Yousef and riding high on the Beatport charts. Just back from Malta’s Groovefest Festival and with an Ibiza date in the diary for Carl Cox, the Willers Brothers are raring to fire up Egg LDN: The Birthday on Saturday May 7th. Nicky Trax gets stuck in…

Why do you think that the role of a resident DJ is so crucial to a successful club night?

We think the resident DJ plays a massive role at any club as they know the crowd better than anybody else and know how to set the right tone for the rest of the night. They also know how to finish the night and to keep the crowd going

What do you think your duty is as a resident?

It’s to play what’s needed to warm up the room ready for the headliners to takeover.

Tell us about the very first time you played at Egg Ldn…

The first time we played was about 3 years ago and we played up in the Loft and had so many friends that came to watch us play – it really was a great night. After that we knew that we wanted to start playing more at Egg LDN and we’ve been resident DJs for the last 2 years.

How do you think that you represent the club and its music policy?

Well we spend lots of hours finding new music and we find a lot of it to play especially for the warm up slot, which we feel a lot of people don’t do nowadays. They want to play all the big tracks no matter what time they’re playing.

What track in your collection always sets the tone for the night at Egg Ldn?

It would have to be Mandar – Fouad.

How do your sets differ from when you’re playing as a resident to when you’re playing headline gigs

Like we said before you can’t play the same music in a warm up set as you can on a headline set so it’s just a matter of having a big music collection to suit all different times of the night. That’s one of the great benefits of being a resident

What has been your favourite moment playing as a resident DJ at Egg Ldn?

I think warming up for Mathias Tanzman when he played his first 6 hour set 2 years ago was massive for us and was definitely one that stands out for us. There’s been so many great times at the club and can’t wait for The Birthday with Hector Coutu who we’ve played with before.
