Reshaping the label’s five years of existence is this compilation of remixes via Needwant’s extended family of artists. It’s easy to hear just why the imprint has craved itself a niche in the landscape by simply soaking up Robert Owens breathy vocals on Mark E’s Sadness of Yesterday remix of, ‘We Could Love’ which feels both stylish and classically deep. The selection then spins through artists and remixers from the caliber of Ejeca, ‘Forrest’, Bonar Bradberry, ‘3two5’ and Kim Brown’s sublime, ‘Other People’s Space’ amongst a number of others, including the first rate Alternative Dub of The Revenge ft. Danielle Moore, ‘ Just Be Good To Me’. Tripping through elegant Deep House – the real thing – as well as being inspired by Detroit/ Berlin the quality of the music always feels like an invigorating amalgamation of past and present – precisely why Needwant has had the impact it has.
