Reality show star now making big waves in clubland – and he’s bloody good…

My Biggest tune of 2009 has to be my track ‘I Need You’. I have been hammering it all over the country and it is going off. Real uplifting pumping, techy house kinda vibe, that’s signed up and being taken to Miami in March by PBR Recordings. Check it on www.myspace.com/djmikeydalton

The Album
Mos Def ‘The Ecstatic’ – taking the baton in the race for Hip Hop lke it used to be. There are some people I would just love to spend some creative studio time with, and Mos is one of them cats.

The Festival
Waveform. I had a couple of the best days of the year when I played at this small but perfectly formed event. Very cool, very mellow and felt very real and organic, compared to a lot of the hyper-capitalist ad-fests that we have to endure nowadays.

2010
I am looking forward to starting my Zuszu label and finishing my newly updated version of Get Wicked, with freshly recorded musicians rather than samples – which is what I wanted to do all those years ago, but didn’t have the skills, contacts or knowledge.  Oh, and lets hope the world’s ‘leaders’ can get their fingers out of their arses and do something about Global Warming, before they leave a barren wasteland for our children, their children, and their children’s children.

ANDY CARROLL

One of the creators of Cream in Liverpool, still making us all jump around, Ibiza wouldn’t be the same without him.

The Tune
There were so many brilliant crowd pleasers out last year that it’s not easy to choose one. So, for originality and just being different, I’ll say Retro/Grade ‘Moda’ is one of my many biggest tunes of the year.

The Club
Hands down…no…hands in the air…’We Love’ @ Space on Sundays is unbiasly still a brilliant night/day out. I had some fantastic nights and mornings DJing and partying there this summer in Ibiza.

The News Story
If you mean incredible to me (in this case, a funny scenario) and a night I played, then it has to be when I randomly happened to be in the back club room at Bambuddha Grove in Ibiza. The place was jumping ,everyone was going crazy . The party was un-announced and sort of put together in a swift phone call. Amongst all the people dancing in the room , a particular group of Dutch people seemed to be the most hardcore. They kept coming up enthusing about the music and then at the end thanked me and praised the evening some more. I wasn’t sure if one was a Tiesto lookalike. A few nights later I was at the night ‘Ibiza Rocks’ and some of the group of party heads from Bambuddha were there. The seemingly Tiesto lookalike came up with the posse and thanked me for the tunes again and then asked to have his photo taken with me and his friends . I thought nothing more of it than, oh what a nice group of party heads they were. The next day a music industry friend said he spotted me in ‘Ibiza Rocks’ with Tiesto and crew having my picture taken. I fell about laughing at the idea of one of the worlds best know DJ’s being a punter for a change. Cool people and good to see a DJ who can dance.

The Newcomer
I heard Aeroplane DJ this year for the first time  and really enjoyed them. They totally rocked from start to finish.

2010
I’m looking forward to getting into the studio once more after many years away, with a few bands I’m working with. Also DJing in New York this winter with the usual Summer (number 17 ) in La Isla Loca , Ibiza.

ISAAC HIDALGO

Mr Ibiza. The man who transformed a huge grey warehouse venue in San Antonio into one of the leading nightclub’s in the world. How he coaxed Pete Tong and Groove Armada away from Pacha I will never know. Every night packed, but we hear there is another chapter in Mr Hidalgo’s life about to happen…

LAURENCE MALICE

London would not be London without Laurence. Music and clubbing running through his veins and one of the biggest and best characters you will ever, ever meet. Love you dude.

The Highlight
It was fantastic moving ‘Trade’ to Ministry of Sound, our 19th Birthday was definitely a highlight for me, the colour and the energy was fantastic. If you missed out, check out the pictures – you will see what I mean. Outside of the world of ‘Trade’, Egg has also had a fantastic year, especially considering the current trading climate. We have refurbished our garden area and made some exciting structural changes to the building that has opened the venue right up.

The Event
Egg, New Years Eve. I will be seeing New Year’s Eve in at the club, we have a MUAK Masked Ball and cannot wait for Kinky Trade @ Renaissance Rooms, it’s set to be the biggest New Year Eve party that gay London has seen in recent years and we’ve also managed to keep the price down, where it used to be cheaper to go out New Years Day we’ve making it more affordable to go out on the big night.

2010
It’s ‘Trade’s 20th Birthday next year.  There is longevity in something that is ever evolving, the name and the ideals of the club have remained the same. We have always been ahead of the times regarding music and production. The ‘Trade’ that you see today is in no shape or form the Trade that started 20 years ago. We have some amazing plans for our 20th Birthday so watch this place. We still remain a force to be reckoned with. Also regarding the venue,  I didn’t realise how easy it was to take down supporting walls, we are going to be making many more structural changes to the club to create bigger dance floors. We have just been granted planning permission to create a MUCH bigger venue on site.

The New Year’s Resolution
As I’m totally sober these days, I intend to embrace more of life, travelling a lot more, seeing ‘Trade’ going transglobal and remembering it this time. Really looking forward to the ‘Trade’ ‘Ski Week’ in March.
