The Rizla Invisible Players Tour

If there is one thing you always associate with clubbing, it’s a pack of Rizla’s. They return to our dance-floors for their third year with an even bigger tour planned. Kicking off originally touring the UK with a van pitching out music out on the road and then bringing us Rizla Invisible Player DJs such as Annie Nightingale, Kid Acne, Justin Robertson, Greg Wilson and Pete Fowler – these parties rock. The 2009 tour kicks off in Bristol on Friday 29th May and Manchester then The Deaf Institute on Saturday 6th June before heading up to Rockness for the first festival on the 12-14th June.
Lovebox then kicks in on 18-19th July, The Big Chill on 7-9th August and Bestival 11-13th September.  There are three more club nights planned from September to November with a big closing party also planned. The big opening party sees Soul II Soul main man Jazzie B, the original Funky Dread and owner of an OBE spinning his unique blend of soul, funk and groove. Jon Carter also steps up, this man needs no introducing – he just knows how to rock a party. And wash my sister’s dog at silly o’clock in her bath.
The ‘Jewellery’ album released earlier this year from Micachu is wondrous, check her out, and Gruff Rhys, the Welsh songwriter and musician, best known from the mighty Super Mighty Animals and solo projects such as the Mercury award nominated Neon Neon – well they’re all here!
Not many people know, but the Rizla van actually was on the road in the 1920’s bringing music to, well not to my ears, but my Grandparents. Jazzie B is really looking forward to getting started. Over a pint in a Camden pub, one of dance music’s finest admitted…“The van looks really cool and it’s a great project incorporating the authentic spirit from the 1920’s. I’m looking forward to the different sounds, vibes and energy.” Jon Carter is also excited, “I can’t wait to kick off the first club night in Bristol. I’m really looking forward to Bestival as well, which, in my 15 years of experience is still one of the craziest parties. The tour has a nice mix of festivals and a great mix of creatives in this year’s Invisible Players. I’m looking forward to hearing what everyone plays and the vibe we can create.”
