GUY MCAFFER
AVE SOME OF THAT YOU WANKERS
RAW

Another inmate from the Stay Up Forever asylum gets loose for the first time in the long-playing environment and it’s a stone(d) killer. The Geezer’s prolific output on his RAW imprint and other SUF labels is renowned for being among the hardest and most unhinged in techno. Sure, tracks like ‘I Wanna Be Your Dildo’ and ‘Crop Spraying’ pack a stomach-shredding attack in the groove department, but Guy’s self-described ‘Special Needs Disco’ betrays a sometimes surprising barrage of influences from Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart to dub reggae. Tracks like ‘Fucking Twats Treat Us Like Fucking Assholes’ are delivered with total punk rock attitude, but meanwhile ‘The Flying Squirrel’ is a cheeky homage to sixties beat visionaries the Kinks. ‘Hammond Chips’ sees Guy paying tribute to the greats of the Hammond organ like Graham Bond and letting fly on said instrument to devastating effect. The whole thing’s a proper riot from start to finish thanks to its creator’s demented passion for great music and, frankly twisted, sense of humour. With enough of his own personality running amok here, Guy can now see his own name filed in the space marked great albums.
