Lindstrom
Where You Go I Go Too
Smalltown Supersound

Not many albums have just the three tracks, and if they do they’re usually pretty dodgy progressive rock efforts. Lindstrom’s latest is certainly progressive, but in a way that sees the music gradually evolving, reaching unexpected heights of intensity. The opening title track is a case in point, an epic half hour that develops slowly but inexorably into a mesmeric blend of loops, underneath a clear synth hook that takes over. Second track ‘Grand Ideas’ is tighter, and more obviously headed for the dancefloor, while the quarter-hour ‘Long Way Home’ develops the slowed down disco beat Lindstrom has so successfully used. Production is excellent, the music revealing more strands with each hearing. It’s an incredible achievement, making dance music on such a large scale yet keeping the interest high – and is one of the albums of the year as a result.
