They’re a prolific lot, these jet setters! While this isn’t an official follow up to last year’s rather brilliant album ‘Schlungs’, ‘Mungodelics’ presents a more than coherent set of remixes and new tracks that show the duo are still at the top of their game. Their opening take on Jaga Jazzist’s ‘Toccata’ reveals their fascination with Steve Reich in its densely woven loops and textures, but when the classic house piano of ‘Smells Like Gasoline’ and the disco-funk hybrid of ‘The Dark Incal’ come in it’s clear their feet are firmly on the dancefloor. Thankfully the madness that is evident on ‘Schlungs’ is here too, albeit a bit more restrained, but ‘Mungodelics’ shows off the Norwegians’ sense of humour and application once again. For spaced out disco-house, look no further!
