SATOSHI TOMIIE
ES
SAW

Expect to see a fair amount of Satoshi’s name in the coming months – this the first of two-compilation albums schedule before autumn and ahead of an artist album early in the New Year. ‘Es’ (pronounced S) demonstrates the New York-based producer’s tougher edge, treading a tightrope that spans from funky bass-bin shakers to the twisted and progressive. Nu skool breaks, debauched electro-house and dark sleazy beats a fitting description for this absorbing mix selection. As to the content, there are numerous highs: the Pastaboys’ sleazy house of ‘Tribute’, Bush II Bush with the aptly named ‘Piano Track’, and Peace Division’s strangely overlooked ‘Peaces Of Gold’. Not surprisingly much of the material comes from Satoshi’s Saw label including a handful of upcoming singles crowned by Chab’s ‘You & Me’. A mix album in the conventional live-club-experience sense of the word; there’s no clever edits, effects or computer assistance here, just a man, a record box and two decks.
