The title refers to Tom Jenkinson’s perception of his eleventh album, recorded in response to a vivid dream he had. In the dream was a fantasy band, of which he was part – and they were a “beautiful rock band, playing an ultra gig”. This is effectively a transcript of that gig, full of colour energy, quickly expressed emotion and rapid fire beats. If it’s all occasionally a bit too much on headphones, Jenkinson’s enthusiasm for his project is contagious, the music tightly held and intense, like riding through a danger signal on a train. Towards the end we pull into a siding for a bit of a pause for thought, as if the band have burnt themselves out, but the combinations of jazz, breaks and vocoder vocals are likely to please anyone who enjoyed the warm sounds of previous album ‘Hello Everything’.
