Altus All Stars Vol. 1 – (Altus Project)

Altus Project is a label that has been doing things right. Now onto a fifth release it is showcasing its great range of artists and sales with a various artist compilation called Altus All Stars Volume one. Reaching for tracks from talents like Krown City, The DC, Devv, Simon Jain and NRKY & Numbers, it also boasts some cool material by the thruway trio of bosses aka Lee M Kelsall, Thee Cool Cats and Sean Roman.

There are many highlights on this great package, and many different styles get explored too. Lee M Kelsall gets remixed in fine style by the cheeky Flymo and Replay. Krown City lay down some nicely skewed bass with their Fit to Behave cut, which is a real sweat inducer. Simon Jain then goes for a harder hitting techno roller with weird vocals and rolling bass, and the result is compelling indeed.

The DC impress with the shuffling grooves and simple but effective melodies of The Fool and Devv closes things down with a slinky garage number that is rich, rolling and rhythmic. You would be hard pushed to find a better selection of jams than this. It is top tackle for Djs and dancers and is fresh from start to finish.
