Blade continues to think about the future of UK hip hop and the music industry on his latest LP, but crucially it doesn’t sound like much of a burden to him these days. Baby J’s production really opens the music up, a brass section here (the superb ‘Mumps’) and an old time sample there (‘Army of Barmy Rappers’), helping to give the album a strong backbone. Always direct and pulling no punches with his inventive lyrics, this puts Blade firmly back on track.
