“There is magic in this record,” says Carl Kennedy. “It was made with honesty, love and a lot of pain and will always be my favourite project”. There’s also been a fair amount of heartache, stress and underhand dealing as a subplot too. Carl’s original idea of taking an old Andrew Roachford album track and transforming it into an Essential Selection mainstay didn’t go unnoticed, nor did the resulting record company threats, manipulation, and deceit that followed; and all from a label that should know better! But (forgive the pun) he rode the storm, and this amazingly simple number is finally available via Kennedy’s own imprint for all to finally enjoy and savour. Sublime stuff.
