For the label that needs no introduction perhaps all you need to know is what it says in the title: 10 Years Of Crosstown Rebels. And what a decade its been! From the edgy, trippy strains of Fur Coat’s infamous ‘You And I’ featuring the wonderful Cari Golden, to Amirali’s outstanding, ‘Beautiful World’ which opens proceedings the imprint has defined Dance music as much as any other label has – indeed, more so. But then the large part of the Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown strength has always been the sheer diversity and class of artists that inhabit its grooves. So, quite naturally inspired House music from Maceo Plex, Jamie Jones and Art Department (amongst many significant others) compliments the feast of sounds on offer from the likes of Kiki & Silversurfer’s sassy rocker, ‘Shake Off’ and Disco inspired nugget ‘Every Cow Has A Bird’ by Guti & Dubshape. The track list stretches out across three cd’s and you would be hard pressed to find a filler release in there, plus by adding the fact the music has transcended fashion by feeling every bit as fresh and invigorating throughout, this also says all that you may need to know too.
