Dave Piccioni delivers for Azuli once again, in the form of two excellent CDs of house music. Giving each track plenty of time to find its feet, he puts out some early corkers on the first disc from Full Intention, Rasmus Faber and Ian Carey, more vocal tracks also present in the familiar shape of Hard Fi via Axwell. Part two has an even better setlist, flirting with electrofunk. Jacques Lu Cont’s fine remix of DePeche Mode’s ‘Pain That I’m Used To’ demands to be heard, as does the darkly funky Book Shade remix of Moby’s ‘Dream About Me’, not to mention his own ‘Mandarine Girl’. Good to hear Lindstrom’s weird ‘I Feel Space’, too. It’s the sound of Piccioni on the knuckle once more – an unsung figure deserving more credit than he gets.
