HIP HOP CLASSICS
UNIVERSAL MUSIC TV

Following the usual template for these things, Hip Hop Classics takes too many tracks and tries to squeeze them into a cheaper format, like cramming commuters in on the tube. At least their track choices are pretty good though, dealing with a wide range of hip hop that covers 50 Cent, Sugarhill Gang, Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5 and Mos Def. Not sure about mixing G-Unit into Roots Manuva though, and including the Blackeyed Peas’ ‘My Humps’ surely deserves the removal of a dancing man. All in all though, not a bad survey of the commercial side of the genre.
